Bitewing is a minimally invasive X-ray examination used to diagnose tooth decay and other conditions, involving the crowns of the teeth with a single shot. Having a very low radiation dose level in relation to its diagnostic value, it can be performed routinely. Periapical radiography, on the other hand, is used to frame the crown and root of a specific tooth.
